Naver Shopping is the product search inside Naver, one of Korea's main web portals: type a product and it compares prices from Naver's own Smart Store sellers and many outside Korean malls, often grouping the same item into one price-comparison page. Checkout usually runs through Naver Pay, which expects a verified Korean account. Buyers abroad can use Naver Shopping to research prices, but most need a Korean buyer to complete the order.
This guide explains the four parts of Naver Shopping (search and price comparison, Smart Store, Naver Pay and Shopping Live), what changed with the Naver Plus Store app, and how to use it from outside Korea.

What is Naver Shopping?
Naver is one of Korea's main search portals. Its shopping section works like a search engine for products. Type "패딩" (paeding, padded jacket) or a model number, and Naver shows listings from thousands of sellers, with filters for price, delivery and reviews.
Naver Shopping is not one store. It is four connected services:
- Search and price comparison (가격비교, gagyeok bigyo): Finds a product across many Korean malls and shows who sells it for what.
- Smart Store (스마트스토어): Naver's storefront platform. Independent sellers and brands open shops on Naver and sell directly.
- Naver Pay (네이버페이): The payment system tied to your Naver account, used for Smart Store orders and many partner malls.
- Shopping Live (쇼핑라이브): Live-stream selling by Smart Store sellers and brands.
For a closer look at the seller side, see our guide to Naver Smart Store.
How does Naver price comparison work?
When several stores sell the same product, Naver can group them into one catalog page (카탈로그, katallogeu). The catalog shows the product once, with a list of sellers and their prices underneath.
According to an explainer from Korean marketing agency AMPM, a few rules shape what you see:
- Grouping: Identical products from many malls are matched into one catalog. Sellers call this being "tied into price comparison."
- Seller order: Within a catalog, sellers are ranked by price first, then traffic, sales volume and review count.
- Brand catalogs: Since January 31, 2020, brand owners or their exclusive agents can control catalog creation for their brand.
- What does not match: Bundles like "1+1" and listings where you pick from several products usually stay outside the catalog.
Why the lowest price is not always the real price
The headline price in a catalog can leave things out:
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Delivery fee | Some sellers list a low price and add a high shipping fee |
| Option price | The headline price may be for the cheapest option only |
| Coupon price | Some prices need a coupon downloaded to a Korean account |
| Seller type | Official brand store vs. reseller |
| Membership points | Naver Pay points are not a discount for an outside buyer |
When you send a Naver link to a purchasing agent, send the link to the specific seller's product page, not the catalog page. The catalog page lists many sellers, and the cheapest one can change by the hour.
What is the Naver Plus Store app?
Naver Plus Store (네이버플러스 스토어) is Naver's dedicated shopping app. According to News Tomato, it launched on March 12, 2025 with these features:
- AI recommendations built on Naver's HyperCLOVA X model, combining product data with the user's preferences and purchase history.
- AI Shopping Guide, which splits a search like "laptop" into uses such as office, design work or gaming. It started with electronics such as laptops, phones, refrigerators and air conditioners.
- Discover tab, a feed of short product videos of about 30 seconds with purchase links.
The same day, Naver replaced its "arrival guarantee" label with N배송 (N Delivery), with these options:
| N Delivery option | Order window (as launched) |
|---|---|
| Same-day delivery | Orders from midnight to 11:00 |
| Next-day delivery | Orders from 11:00 to midnight, with seller cutoffs between 18:00 and midnight |
| Sunday delivery | Saturday orders from 11:00 to midnight |
| Preferred-date delivery | Buyer picks the date |
These are delivery promises inside Korea. For buyers abroad, they mostly mean an item can reach a Korean warehouse quickly. For the wider app landscape, see our guide to Korean shopping apps.
What is Smart Store and why do buyers abroad want it?
Smart Store is where much of Korea's small-brand shopping happens. Independent fashion labels, handmade accessory makers, stationery shops, K-pop goods sellers and many official brand stores run their shops on it. A Smart Store address usually looks like smartstore.naver.com/ followed by the store name.
Buyers abroad want Smart Store for three reasons:
- Small Korean brands that have no website of their own and no global shipping.
- Official brand stores that list items not on a global site.
- Fast domestic delivery, which helps items reach a Korean forwarder or agent sooner.
The catch is checkout. Smart Store orders go through Naver's login and Naver Pay. Most sellers deliver only to Korean addresses.
How do you read a Smart Store product page?
Smart Store pages follow the same layout, so once you know the labels you can read any of them with a browser translator:
| Korean label | Meaning | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 옵션 (obsyeon) | Option | Size, color or set. Some options add to the price |
| 배송비 (baesongbi) | Delivery fee | Fee inside Korea and any free-shipping threshold |
| 상세정보 (sangse jeongbo) | Product details | Materials, measurements in cm, made-in country |
| 리뷰 (ribyu) | Reviews | Photo reviews often show real color and fit |
| 문의 (mun-ui) | Questions | Answers from the seller about stock and sizing |
| 반품/교환 (banpum/gyohwan) | Returns/exchanges | Return fee and the seller's return address |
| 판매자 정보 (panmaeja jeongbo) | Seller info | Business name and registration, useful for spotting official stores |
The detail section is usually one long image. Browser translators cannot read text inside images, so look for a size chart in the option list or reviews, or ask us to check the image for you.
Can you use Naver Pay with a foreign card?
Partly, and with conditions. Naver's own Korean help pages were not reachable for us, so here is what a guide site quotes from them, along with recent news:
- Direct card payment: Seoulstart, a guide for foreigners, quotes Naver Pay's help center as saying that among overseas-issued credit cards, only UnionPay can be used for direct payment, and other overseas cards are difficult to use.
- Npay Money top-up: The same help-center text says overseas residents can top up Npay Money (Naver Pay's stored balance) with an overseas-issued credit card and pay from that balance.
- Global Member accounts: Naver Pay Global Member accounts are described as paying only with overseas-issued credit or check cards.
- Identity verification: Full shopping features on Naver normally depend on a real-name-verified account, which usually means a Korean phone number in your name. See our guide to Korean phone verification.
Two 2026 developments are worth knowing:
- Passport verification (June 4, 2026). Naver introduced passport verification for users with overseas passports, according to Asia Economy. It covered travel-related services such as Naver Map reservations, ordering and payment. The article did not mention shopping, and Naver said it would expand covered services in stages.
- Overseas card setting (July 2026). Naver faced criticism over a SmartPlace setting that let businesses decide whether to accept reservations and purchases paid with overseas-issued cards. Naver said the setting was about card costs and fraud risk, citing a 3.85% processing fee on such transactions, and said it was reviewing renaming it, according to Asia News Network.
In practice, results vary by account, card and seller. Our guide to paying Korean stores with a foreign card covers the general problem.
What is Naver Shopping Live?
Shopping Live (쇼핑라이브) is Naver's live commerce service. According to News Tomato, Naver opened its live commerce tool to all Smart Store sellers at the end of March 2020 and launched Shopping Live as a full service on July 30, 2020.
How it works for shoppers:
- Sellers stream product demos from a smartphone or studio, with live chat.
- Products are tagged in the stream and link to the seller's Smart Store page.
- Streams often come with live-only coupons or gifts during the broadcast.
- Replays and short clips stay up after the broadcast.
Live-only coupons usually need you to be logged in and watching during the stream. A purchasing agent can buy the product from the linked page, but a live-only coupon may not apply when the order is placed later. If a live deal matters to you, tell us the broadcast time.
How do you buy from Naver Shopping from outside Korea?
| Buy direct | You buy, we ship (package forwarding) | We buy for you (HaulKorea) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Naver account and 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification) | Needed for full shopping | Needed | Not needed |
| Payment | Naver Pay with limits on foreign cards | Naver Pay with limits on foreign cards | PayPal, once |
| Delivery address | Korean addresses only on most stores | Forwarder's Korean address | Our Korean warehouse |
| Live-only and account coupons | Yours to use | Yours to use | May not apply |
| Several stores in one box | No | Usually | Yes |
| Total before paying | Item price only | Shipping charged later | Full total with international shipping |
First, check for an international option. Some brands that sell on Smart Store also run a global site or sell on international marketplaces. If the same item is offered with international shipping, that is simpler.
Otherwise, use a Korean buyer. A forwarder works if you can pass Naver's verification and pay. A purchasing agent places the order for you.
How to order a Naver Shopping item with HaulKorea
- Find the item on Naver Shopping and open the seller's own product page, not the price-comparison catalog.
- Copy the link (for example, a
smartstore.naver.comaddress) and note the exact option. - Add other links from Naver or other Korean stores if you want one shipment.
- Send us the links. We show one total that includes international shipping, and you pay once by PayPal.
- We buy at the price available to us at checkout.
- We receive and photograph the items at our warehouse in Korea before shipping.
- We ship. If the final weight costs less to ship than estimated, we refund the difference. No second charge.
Duties and taxes are separate. In every country, the recipient pays local duty, tax and any carrier clearance fee on arrival. In the US, CBP ended duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value shipments from all countries on August 29, 2025.
How can you use Naver Shopping as a research tool?
Even if you never check out on Naver, it is useful:
- Price check. Before buying a Korean product anywhere, search it on Naver to see the usual Korean price range.
- Find the official store. Brands often run an official Smart Store, marked with the brand name. That helps you avoid resellers.
- Read reviews. Naver reviews are detailed and often include photos and size notes. A browser translator handles them well.
- Find Korean names. Searching the English name often fails. Naver's results show the Korean product name, which you can then search elsewhere.
Useful search words: 정품 (jeongpum, genuine), 공식 (gongsik, official), 무료배송 (muryo baesong, free shipping), 품절 (pumjeol, sold out). More terms are in our Korean online shopping glossary.
When are the big Naver sales?
Naver runs store-wide sales at several points in the year, and brands on Smart Store run their own promotions. November is especially busy, because 11st and Gmarket run their biggest events then too. See our guide to Korea's 11.11 sales for how those events line up.
Sale coupons on Naver are usually tied to a logged-in account, and some need membership. Expect a purchasing agent to pay the price available at checkout, which can be higher than a fully couponed price.
What can go wrong with Naver orders?
Catalog prices move. The cheapest seller in a catalog can change or sell out. Send the specific seller's link.
Domestic-only sellers. Most Smart Store sellers ship only within Korea. That is why a Korean address is needed.
Option confusion. Prices often depend on the option. Copy the option text exactly.
Pre-orders and made-to-order items. Small brands on Smart Store often sell items as 예약판매 (yeyak panmae, pre-order) or 주문제작 (jumun jejak, made to order). Look for a 발송 예정일 (balsong yejeongil, expected dispatch date) on the page. If it is weeks away, the item will wait that long before it even reaches a Korean warehouse, and anything you ship with it will wait too.
Restricted items. Food, supplements, cosmetics in aerosol form, perfume and battery products have shipping and import rules. Ask us before you order.
Returns. Returning a Smart Store purchase from abroad is slow and often costs more than the item. Choose sizes carefully.
