How to Buy from Naver Smartstore from Overseas (2026 Guide)
Naver Smartstore shops are built for buyers inside Korea. You can create a Naver account with a foreign phone number, but completing a purchase requires identity verification tied to a Korean identity, and almost every seller ships only to Korean addresses. This guide explains how Smartstore and Naver Shopping fit together, where overseas buyers get stopped, what shipping and returns cost in won, and three ways to get an order out of Korea.

What is Naver Smartstore, and how is it different from Naver Shopping?
Naver (네이버) is Korea's main search engine. Search for a product there and the results lead into 네이버쇼핑 (Naver Shopping), a price-comparison layer that lists offers from many stores.
스마트스토어 (Smartstore) is the shop builder behind many of those offers. Each Smartstore is an independent shop with its own address under smartstore.naver.com or brand.naver.com. A skincare brand, a one-person ceramics studio and a vintage clothing reseller can all be Smartstores.
In March 2025 Naver launched a separate shopping app called 네이버플러스 스토어 (Naver Plus Store). It collects the same shops in one place and adds personalized recommendations. The three names describe one ecosystem: Smartstore is the shop, Naver Shopping is the search, Naver Plus Store is the app.
Overseas shoppers care because of what is sold there. Small Korean brands that have no global site, and no listing on the big marketplaces, almost always have a Smartstore. Indie fashion labels, handmade accessories, niche stationery, small-batch tea and official brand shops with Smartstore-only bundles all live here.
Can you buy from Naver Smartstore directly from overseas?
Usually not. The account is the easy part. The purchase is not.
Opening an account works. Naver's help pages say you can sign up from abroad with the mobile phone you use locally. You pick your country code and receive a text. That gets you mail, search and a login.
Buying needs identity verification. Naver separates a basic account from a verified one. Naver Pay top-ups and payments, completing a shopping transaction, and membership subscriptions all require 본인확인 (bon-in hwagin, identity confirmation). The standard method is a mobile phone registered under your own name with a Korean carrier.
Passport verification is new, but narrow. In June 2026 Naver added passport-based verification for foreigners without a Korean number. Naver's announcement describes it as a way for visitors to use reservations, orders and payments in Naver Map. It was designed for travelers in Korea, and we could not confirm that it opens Smartstore checkout for people living abroad.
Payment runs through Naver Pay. Smartstore checkout is a Naver Pay checkout. Guides for foreign residents note that Korean wallet apps generally accept only Korean-issued cards. Do not plan around a foreign card working.
Sellers ship within Korea. Each seller configures delivery, and the normal setting is domestic courier only. The address form expects a Korean address.
Is there a global version of Naver Shopping?
No. There is no English Naver Shopping site that ships worldwide. A few larger brands that sell on Smartstore also run their own global stores. If the brand you want has one, check it first: the range is usually smaller and prices can differ, but you can order without help.
Three ways to buy from a Naver Smartstore when you live abroad
1. Buy directly (verified account required)
This works for people who have a verified Naver account and a Korean payment method, typically current or former residents. You still need a Korean delivery address.
2. Use a package forwarding address
A forwarder gives you a Korean warehouse address. You order on Smartstore yourself and the forwarder ships the parcel abroad. This solves the address problem only. Verification and payment are still yours to solve.
3. Use a purchasing agent such as HaulKorea
You send the Smartstore product link. HaulKorea places the order, pays the seller, receives the parcel and ships it to you. No Naver account, no Korean number and no Korean card are needed, and you do not have to read the Korean option menus.
| Buy directly | You buy, we ship (package forwarding) | We buy for you (HaulKorea) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verified Naver account | Required | Required | Not needed |
| Korean phone number | Required for verification | Required for verification | Not needed |
| Payment | Naver Pay with a Korean method | Naver Pay with a Korean method | PayPal |
| Talking to the seller | You, in Korean | You, in Korean | HaulKorea |
| International shipping | Not offered by most sellers | Paid to the forwarder after weighing | Included in one total, paid once |
| Photos before shipping | No | Depends on the service | Yes |
| Best for | Residents with verified accounts | People who can already check out | Buyers without Korean credentials |
If you already have a verified account and a working payment method, forwarding costs less. If you do not, a purchasing agent is the route that works.
How to order from Naver Smartstore with HaulKorea, step by step
- Open the product page. It will be on smartstore.naver.com or brand.naver.com. Listings found through Naver Shopping search sometimes lead to other malls, so check the address.
- Copy the full link. Smartstore links are long. Copy the whole thing from the address bar.
- Write down the options. Smartstore sellers use dropdowns for color, size and add-ons, and some add a price to certain options. A screenshot of the option you want helps. 4.** Add quantity, options and any note for the seller, such as an engraving request.
- Select your country. This sets the shipping method and whether duties are included.
- Check the total. It covers the product, the seller's domestic shipping fee, the service fee and international shipping.7. Pay once with PayPal. If the actual weight comes in lower, the shipping difference is refunded. There are no follow-up charges.
- Receive inspection photos, then tracking. Photos arrive when the parcel reaches the warehouse. Tracking follows when it ships.
What Naver Smartstore costs before international shipping
There is no single shipping rule, because each shop sets its own. You will see three patterns.
Seller-set fee. Most shops charge a flat domestic courier fee per order and waive it above a spending threshold they choose. Both numbers are printed under the price on the product page. Buying two items from two shops means two fees.
N Delivery. 엔배송 (N Delivery) is Naver's fast-delivery program, renamed from its earlier arrival-guarantee service in March 2025. At launch it offered same-day delivery for orders before 11 a.m., next-day delivery for orders up to midnight, Sunday delivery and delivery on a date you choose. Naver Plus members get free shipping on N Delivery orders of ₩10,000 or more.
Made-to-order items. Handmade and personalized goods often have a production period of several days to a few weeks before they ship. The seller states it on the page.
Prices in this guide are in won, as of October 2026.
What to buy on Naver Smartstore
Typical listing ranges as of October 2026:
- Indie fashion labels, roughly ₩20,000 to ₩90,000 per piece. Many small Korean clothing brands sell only through their Smartstore and Instagram.
- Handmade jewelry and hair accessories, roughly ₩5,000 to ₩40,000. Small studios, low weight, cheap to ship.
- Stationery and stickers from independent illustrators, roughly ₩1,500 to ₩20,000. Often unavailable anywhere else.
- Official brand-store beauty sets, roughly ₩15,000 to ₩60,000. Brand shops under brand.naver.com run bundles and gifts not offered on global sites.
- Ceramics and tableware, roughly ₩10,000 to ₩80,000. Popular, but fragile and heavy. Ask about packing.
- Phone cases and tech accessories, roughly ₩10,000 to ₩35,000. Korean case brands release designs here first.
- Tea, coffee drip bags and packaged snacks, roughly ₩8,000 to ₩30,000. Shelf-stable only, and subject to your country's food rules.
For mass-market items such as ramyeon packs or drugstore skincare, Coupang is usually cheaper. Smartstore is the place for small brands.
Things that go wrong on Smartstore orders (and how to avoid them)
Production delays on made-to-order goods. A listing may say it ships in ten business days. That time comes before international transit. If you need something by a date, tell us and we will check the stated lead time before buying.
Pre-order and group-order listings. Small brands often open orders for a short window and ship weeks later. The listing title usually includes 예약 (ye-yak, pre-order) or a ship date.
Option sold out after you ask. Small shops hold little stock. Give a second choice.
The seller cancels. Smartstore sellers sometimes cancel an order when stock was wrong. If that happens, you are refunded as described in our refund policy.
Extra fees for remote areas do not apply to you, but option surcharges do. Read the dropdown carefully: "+₩3,000" next to an option is added to the price.
Restricted goods. Perfume, nail polish, aerosols, candles with certain contents and anything with a battery have air-shipping limits. Custom items cannot be returned. Engraved, personalized or made-to-order goods are generally excluded from change-of-mind returns in Korea.
Returns, sizing and customs
The return rule on Smartstore
Korean e-commerce law gives buyers 7 days from delivery to cancel for any reason. For a change of mind, the buyer pays return shipping. If the item is defective or not as described, the seller pays. Sellers must refund within three business days of getting the item back.
On N Delivery items, Naver Plus members get free returns and exchanges, limited to one per order, with some exclusions.
What changes when an agent buys for you
The 7 days are counted from delivery in Korea. They will usually have passed, or nearly passed, by the time a parcel reaches another country. That is why HaulKorea photographs each item on arrival: problems are caught while a return to the seller is still possible.
After the parcel leaves Korea, a change-of-mind return is rarely worth the international postage. Check sizes and options before you pay.
Sizing
Small Korean fashion labels publish flat measurements in centimeters: shoulder, chest, sleeve, total length. Many pieces come in one size labeled FREE. Measure a similar garment you own and compare. Model height and the size worn are often listed, which helps.
Customs
Each country sets its own duty rules. For destinations other than the United States, duties and taxes are not part of a HaulKorea quote and the recipient pays them on arrival.
For the United States, the $800 duty-free allowance was suspended for all countries on August 29, 2025. HaulKorea quotes for US addresses include duties, so nothing is collected at delivery.
FAQ
Does Naver Smartstore ship internationally?
Not as a rule. Delivery is set by each seller and is normally limited to Korean addresses. Overseas buyers use a forwarding address or a purchasing agent.
Can I use Naver Pay with a foreign credit card?
Do not count on it. Naver Pay requires identity verification before payments, and Korean wallet services are built around Korean-issued cards and bank accounts.
Can I make a Naver account without a Korean phone number?
Yes. Naver lets you sign up with a foreign mobile number. That account can search and browse, but shopping and Naver Pay ask for identity verification on top of it.
What is the difference between Smartstore and Naver Plus Store?
Smartstore is the individual shop a seller runs. Naver Plus Store is Naver's shopping app, launched in March 2025, that gathers those shops and adds recommendations and N Delivery filters.
Can HaulKorea buy from brand.naver.com shops?
Yes. Brand stores run on the same Smartstore system. Send the product link the same way.
How long will my Smartstore order take?
It depends on the seller's handling time, which ranges from next-day dispatch to several weeks for made-to-order goods, plus international transit.
Can I combine items from several Smartstores into one box?
Yes. Each shop ships separately to the HaulKorea warehouse, and you can choose to have everything held and sent in one parcel.
