What is an official K-pop lightstick?
A lightstick is a battery-powered light that fans hold at concerts. Each group has its own design, often a version number (Ver.2, Ver.3) that changes every few years.
Modern versions do more than glow. At concerts, the organizer can control every paired lightstick at once, turning the crowd into a light show. Weverse notices for TXT's 2026 "MOA CON" and TWS's June 2026 Seoul concert both explain pairing and warn that low batteries can dim the light or stop wireless control.
The TXT notice also notes that its Ver.1 does not support wireless control or pairing. Newer versions add app connection. The YG SELECT page for BLACKPINK's Ver.2 says its app connects to the lightstick by Bluetooth for a mood light mode, and that a central control mode and mood light are supported from the second generation.

Where do Korean fans buy lightsticks?
Agency stores online
Each big agency runs its own online shop:
- SMTOWN &STORE for SM artists. See our SMTOWN &STORE guide.
- YG SELECT for YG artists. See our YG SELECT guide.
- JYP's official shop for JYP artists. See our JYP Shop guide.
- Weverse Shop for HYBE labels and many other artists. See our Weverse Shop guide.
Concert merch booths
Lightsticks are a staple at concert MD booths. The TXT and TWS Weverse notices for their 2026 KSPO DOME shows describe on-site sales, pairing booths, and Weverse Shop pre-purchase with on-site pickup. For the TWS show, the notice says pre-purchase required being within 40 km of the venue and reserving a pickup time. These options are for people attending in Korea.
Resale and marketplaces
Lightsticks also appear on Korean resale apps and open marketplaces, sometimes when the official store is out of stock. Secondhand units may be used, damaged or not genuine. If you buy secondhand, ask for the box, the manual and a photo of the light working. Our guide on avoiding fake Korean products lists more checks.
Can you buy a lightstick directly from Korea's agency stores?
Often yes, and you should check this first.
On SMTOWN &STORE and YG SELECT, the lightstick pages we checked carried the label "(해외배송 가능상품)" (overseas shipping available). These stores also run English-language versions. The aespa page added a note that shipping to Taiwan is potentially restricted and that orders could be cancelled during fulfillment.
So when does a buying service help?
- The model shows as not available for overseas shipping, or not for your country.
- Checkout needs a Korean phone number for 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification) or a Korean card.
- You want a lightstick plus albums or goods from other stores in one box.
- You want inspection photos before the lightstick leaves Korea.
| Buy direct | You buy, we ship (package forwarding) | We buy for you (HaulKorea) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overseas shipping from the store | Yes on many models | Not needed, ships to the forwarder | Not needed, ships to our warehouse |
| Korean account or phone | Sometimes needed | Usually needed | Not needed |
| Korean card | Sometimes needed | Usually needed | Not needed, pay by PayPal |
| Combine with albums from other stores | No | Often | Yes |
| Photos before shipping | No | Depends on the service | Yes, inspection photos |
| International shipping | Store's own rates | Paid separately after weighing | Included in one total before you pay |
Can lightsticks be shipped internationally? The battery question
This is the main reason to read the product page carefully.
What Korea Post allows
Korea Post's EMS guidance sets out battery rules in a table:
- Ordinary single-use dry cells (AA, AAA, alkaline): allowed regardless of quantity, as long as they are ordinary single-use batteries.
- Rechargeable batteries: apart from nickel-based ones, rechargeable batteries cannot be sent, regardless of type or capacity.
- Devices with removable batteries: only the device body can be sent.
- Devices with built-in rechargeable batteries: cannot be sent, with no exceptions.
- Button-cell lithium batteries: banned when shipped on their own; allowed only when fitted inside a device, up to two products.
What it means for lightsticks
The official lightsticks we checked use AAA alkaline batteries and ship without them. That is the easy case. The lightstick itself has no battery inside, and AAA alkalines are ordinary single-use cells.
Be careful with:
- Rechargeable lightsticks or accessories. If a product has a built-in rechargeable battery, Korea Post's rules say it cannot be sent by EMS. Other couriers have their own rules.
- Mini keyrings and accessories with button cells. These depend on how the battery is fitted.
- Lightstick bundles with power banks or chargers. A power bank is a lithium battery.
Our guide to what you cannot ship from Korea covers batteries in more detail. For anything with a battery, ask us before you order.
Should you buy batteries in Korea?
Usually no. AAA alkaline batteries are sold almost everywhere. Buy them at home and save the weight. Remove batteries when you store the lightstick; the SM product pages advise removing batteries when not in use.
How do you order a lightstick from Korea with HaulKorea?
- Check the agency store first. If your model shows overseas shipping available for your country and you can check out, buying direct is simplest.
- Copy the product link. Use the Korean page of the agency store. Note the version (Ver.2, Ver.3) and any accessory.
- Send us the link. Include your country. If the listing mentions a battery other than AAA alkaline, flag it. Ask us before you order anything with a built-in or lithium battery.
- Get one total. HaulKorea shows the lightstick price, Korean delivery and international shipping in one figure, paid once by PayPal. If the actual weight is lower than estimated, we refund the shipping difference.
- We buy it in Korea. SMTOWN &STORE lists domestic delivery at ₩3,000 by CJ Logistics, taking 1 to 5 days.
- Check the inspection photos. We send photos of the sealed box and contents when the lightstick reaches our Korean warehouse.
- Add albums or merch. Lightsticks pack well with albums and photocards in one box.
How does lightstick pairing work at Korean concerts?
Pairing links your lightstick to the concert's control system for that show, so the stage team can change every light in the venue at once. The two 2026 Weverse notices we read show how it works in practice.
| TXT "2026 TXT MOA CON" | TWS "24/7:FOR:YOU" in Seoul | |
|---|---|---|
| Dates and venue | February 27 to March 1, 2026, KSPO DOME | June 27 and 28, 2026, KSPO DOME |
| Lightstick named | Official Light Stick Ver.2 (Ver.1 does not support wireless control or pairing) | Official Light Stick, with an official app for self-pairing |
| Batteries | 3 × AAA alkaline | 3 × AAA alkaline |
| Pairing | See the concert's notice | Pairing booths outside and inside the venue, plus app self-pairing that opened before each show |
| Battery warning | Low batteries may turn it off and interrupt wireless control | Light fades when batteries are low, and wireless control may stop |
| Merch payment on site | Cash and credit cards, in won; some cards may not be accepted | Purchase limits subject to change, shown on site |
For TWS, app self-pairing opened at 4 pm KST on June 26 for Day 1 and at 7 pm KST on June 27 for Day 2. Outside-venue booth hours were 1 pm to 5:30 pm on June 27 and 12 pm to 4:30 pm on June 28.
Three practical lessons:
- Put in fresh batteries before the show. Both notices warn that weak batteries interrupt wireless control.
- Pair for each concert. Pairing is tied to the show, so follow the instructions in that tour's notice, even if you paired at a previous concert.
- Bring the right version. If a group has moved to a new version, an older one may only light up without joining the show's color effects.
Always read the notice for the concert you attend. If you are buying a lightstick from Korea for a concert in your country, check that the version you buy is the one the tour supports.
What should you check before buying?
Version. Groups release new versions over time. A Ver.1 may not pair at current concerts. The TXT notice states that its Ver.1 does not support wireless control or pairing.
Pairing method. Some concerts pair lightsticks at a booth, others through an app. The TWS notice listed both pairing booths and app self-pairing times. If you plan to attend a concert abroad, check that tour's notice.
App region. Lightsticks with Bluetooth features use an official app. Check that the app is available in your country's app store before relying on it.
Weight and box size. Lightstick boxes are bulky for their weight. The BLACKPINK Ver.2 page lists a 163 × 268 × 95 mm box. Shipping is charged on size when it exceeds actual weight.
Fakes. Buy from the official store when you can, so you know the lightstick is genuine.
What about import tax?
United States. CBP says goods from all countries valued at $800 or less lost duty-free de minimis treatment on August 29, 2025, and are subject to applicable duties, taxes and fees. The recipient pays these US charges locally when the parcel arrives, along with any carrier clearance fee. CBP's guidance on internet purchases says the importer is ultimately responsible for paying any duty owed. HaulKorea's total covers the item, Korean delivery and international shipping only.
Other countries. The recipient also pays local VAT, GST or duty on arrival. A lightstick and an album or two usually fall in a modest value range, but check your country's threshold.
Tips from the product pages
- Use genuine alkaline AAA batteries. SM's pages say to use genuine alkaline AAA batteries and to check the polarity, warning that wrong installation can cause malfunction and a risk of fire or burns.
- Keep it dry. SM's pages warn that strong impact or water can cause failure, and not to take it apart.
- Mind the silicone. YG's BLACKPINK page warns that the silicone can pick up print color if it touches the package's printed surface.
- Update before the show. YG's page says the LIVE REACT mode's sound data is not pre-installed and must be updated through the app before use.
FAQ
How much is an official K-pop lightstick in Korea?
As of October 2026, current models on Korean agency stores mostly cost ₩39,000 to ₩47,000. Examples: aespa and Red Velvet Ver.2 at ₩47,000 on SMTOWN &STORE, and BLACKPINK Ver.2 at ₩39,000 on YG SELECT.
Do K-pop lightsticks come with batteries?
Not the ones we checked. The aespa and Red Velvet Ver.2 pages on SMTOWN &STORE say batteries are not included, and the BLACKPINK Ver.2 page on YG SELECT says AAA batteries must be bought separately.
Can you ship a lightstick internationally?
Yes, in most cases. Lightsticks that run on AAA alkaline batteries and ship without them are the easy case. Korea Post's EMS rules allow ordinary single-use dry cells but ban most rechargeable batteries and devices with built-in rechargeable batteries. Ask us before you order anything with a built-in battery.
Do Korean agency stores ship lightsticks abroad?
Many do. The SMTOWN &STORE and YG SELECT lightstick pages we checked were marked as available for overseas shipping. SMTOWN noted that shipping to Taiwan is potentially restricted. Check your country at checkout.
Will a lightstick bought in Korea work at a concert in my country?
Pairing is set up for each tour, so check that tour's notice for pairing instructions. Older versions may not pair: TXT's notice says its Ver.1 does not support wireless control or pairing.
What is the difference between 응원봉 and fanlight?
Nothing practical. 응원봉 (eungwonbong) literally means cheering stick and is the common Korean word. SM's store calls its products "Official Fanlight," while YG and HYBE artists use "Official Light Stick."
Should I buy AAA batteries in Korea?
No. Batteries add weight, and AAA alkalines are easy to buy at home. Ordinary single-use dry cells are allowed by Korea Post's EMS rules, but there is no reason to pay to ship them.
Can I combine a lightstick with albums from other stores?
Yes. HaulKorea can hold a lightstick at our Korean warehouse and pack it with albums, photocards or other Korean purchases in one box. Send all the links together for one total.
