How to Buy from Olive Young Korea from Overseas (2026 Guide)

Olive Young's Korean site, oliveyoung.co.kr, does not ship outside Korea. It is built for shoppers who live there, with Korean checkout and Korean delivery addresses. Olive Young does run two official stores for overseas buyers, though: Olive Young Global for 60-plus countries, and a separate US store that opened in May 2026. This guide explains what each of the three sites carries, when the official overseas stores are the better choice, and how to order from the Korean site when they are not.

What is Olive Young and why do shoppers want the Korean site?

Olive Young is the largest health and beauty chain in South Korea. It is part of CJ Group, opened its first store in Seoul in 1999, and ran more than 1,300 stores as of 2024. For most Korean brands, getting onto an Olive Young shelf is the moment they become mainstream.

The Korean online store is where that whole catalog lives. New indie brands tend to appear there first, and the site's ranking tab (랭킹, raengking) is watched closely as a live chart of what Korea is buying this week.

The other draw is the bundle. Korean listings are full of 기획 (gihoek, special set) versions: a full-size product packaged with a travel size, refill, or bonus item at the regular price or lower. Round Lab's 1025 Dokdo Toner, for example, is sold on the Korean site as a 200ml bottle with an extra 50ml included.

Then there are the sales. Olive Young runs large seasonal sales known as 올영세일 (Olyeong sale) several times a year, plus shorter monthly promotions. Prices during those windows are the reason many overseas shoppers look at the Korean site in the first place.

Can you buy from Olive Young Korea directly from overseas?

Not in any practical way. Three things stand between an overseas shopper and a completed order.

Account. Olive Young's FAQ says you join through a CJ ONE integrated ID, the shared membership of the CJ group, and that under-14s cannot join. The CJ ONE signup page asks non-Korean nationals for the registration number on a foreigner ID issued in Korea, such as an alien registration card, plus the exact English name on that card. Visitors and overseas residents do not have one. This is the Korean pattern usually called 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification).

Payment. Neither the FAQ nor the terms of use mention overseas-issued cards. We could not confirm that one works there, so do not plan around it.

Address. Even with an account and a working payment method, the delivery address must be in Korea. There is no country selector.

Olive Young Global: the official option for most countries

Before you look for a workaround, check Olive Young Global (global.oliveyoung.com). It is run by Olive Young itself, it is in English, and it ships from Korea to more than 60 countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania, and the Middle East.

Here is what Olive Young's own help pages say, as of October 2026:

• Prices are shown in US dollars.
• Shipping is free above US$60 for most destinations. The threshold is US$35 for Taiwan and ¥3,900 for Japan.
• Payment options include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Alipay, and PayPal.
• Taxes and duties are collected at checkout for the UK, Norway, Australia, Singapore, and EU countries. For Canada and Israel they are collected on delivery.
• Returns must be shipped back within two months to be refunded.
• Orders of five or more K-pop albums are switched to DHL automatically.

Olive Young US: a separate store since May 2026

Olive Young Global no longer ships to the 50 US states or Washington, D.C. On May 29, 2026, Olive Young opened a dedicated US online store alongside its first American shop in Pasadena, California. US visitors to the Global site are now redirected to it.

The US store is fulfilled from a distribution center in California. Olive Young advertises free shipping on orders over $35 and no additional import duties, because the goods are already in the country. The Pasadena store launched with roughly 400 brands and 5,000 products, and the lineup includes non-Korean brands such as CeraVe and Kiehl's next to Korean ones.

The catalogs are not copies of each other. The overseas stores choose what to list, price it separately, and run their own promotions on their own calendar. A set you saw on Korean social media may not exist on the Global or US store, and a sale price on the Korean site does not carry over.

When you should just use Global or the US store

Use the official overseas store if the products you want are listed there and the price looks fine to you. You get an English checkout and a published return policy. For a routine restock of well-known products, no buying service will improve on that.

The Korean site is worth the extra step in narrower cases: a Korea-only set or shade, a brand that has not reached the overseas stores yet, or a Korean sale price that is clearly lower even after you add a service fee and international shipping. Do that math before you commit.

Forwarding means you buy on the Korean site yourself and send the order to a warehouse address in Korea, which then ships it abroad. It only solves the address problem. If you cannot pass signup or checkout, forwarding does not help.

One detail catches people out. Pre-order items ship separately from in-stock items, and Korean shoppers have reported being charged a second ₩2,500 when the separated part of the order fell under the free-shipping line. If your cart mixes pre-order and in-stock products, expect that possibility.

What to buy from the Korean site

These are the categories where the Korean catalog tends to differ most from the overseas stores.

• 기획 sets of best sellers. Toners, serums, and pads bundled with refills or minis. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner sets run ₩15,000 to ₩30,000 before discounts (as of October 2026).
• Sheet mask and toner pad multipacks. Brands such as Mediheal sell large-count packs that are often Korea-only configurations.
• New indie skincare. Small brands usually launch on the Korean site months before they reach overseas listings, if they reach them at all.
• Lip tints and cushion shades. Color makeup brands like rom&nd release shades and seasonal collections in Korea first.
• Health and "inner beauty" products. Vitamins and supplements are a large section of the store. Rules for importing these vary a lot, so ask us before you order.

Things that go wrong (and how to avoid them)

The item sells out between quote and purchase. Ranking products move fast, especially during a sale. Give us a second-choice shade or tell us to skip the item, so one sold-out product does not hold up the rest.

Pre-order sets ship late. Listings marked 예약 (yeyak, pre-order) are sent on a stated date, separately from the rest of your order. Ask us to hold everything and ship one box, or accept two shipments.

Pressurized and flammable products. Aerosol sprays, hair sprays, spray sunscreens, nail polish, polish remover, and alcohol-based perfume are commonly treated as dangerous goods for air transport. Whether they can go depends on the carrier and the destination. Ask us before you order any of these.

Sunscreen and "functional" cosmetics. Some countries regulate sunscreen as a drug or restrict certain ingredients. The product is legal to buy in Korea, but your customs office decides whether it enters your country.

Returns, expiry dates, and customs

Olive Young's terms allow change-of-mind returns within 15 days of receiving the goods, with a ₩2,500 pickup fee, and exclude cosmetics whose seal has been opened. That policy is written for a buyer in Korea who can hand the box to a local courier. Once an order has left the country, that route is closed. Customs depends on where you live. For the US, the $800 duty-free exemption for low-value parcels was suspended on August 29, 2025, so small orders are no longer automatically duty-free. HaulKorea orders to the US have duties included in the price, and you pay nothing on delivery. For every other country, duties and taxes are not included and are paid by the recipient under local rules.
