How to Buy from Artbox Korea from Overseas (2026 Guide)

Artbox does not sell to overseas customers online. Its web store is called POOM (poom.co.kr), it is in Korean, its product pages list Korean card companies only, and its FAQ says overseas delivery is not currently offered. To get Artbox pens, plush, and diaries abroad, the order has to be placed and received in Korea first. What is Artbox and why do shoppers want it?

Artbox is the gift-and-stationery chain most visitors to Korea remember from the street: bright storefronts in shopping districts and subway stations, full of pens with animal heads and shelves of plush. It began in 1984 inside Samsung Publishing and became its own company in 1986. As of 2023 it had 187 stores, 174 of them run directly by the company.

It is often described as closer to a variety store than a pure stationery shop. Alongside notebooks and pens it sells soju glasses, pajamas, phone accessories, desk gadgets, and imported snacks. Most items sit in the pocket-money range.

The reason to order from Artbox, instead of any Korean stationery seller, is its own-brand character goods. Artbox designs its own lines, such as the sea otter (해달, haedal) series that appears on diaries, staplers, market bags, and keyrings. These are made for Artbox and sold through Artbox.

POOM is the online side. Artbox says it lists more than 600,000 design products, because it also hosts other brands across interiors, fashion, beauty, travel, toys, kitchen, and pet goods. Artbox's own products have a dedicated section inside it.

Can you buy from Artbox directly from overseas?

No. Here is where it stops, and how sure we are about each point.

Language and store. POOM is Korean only. There is no English storefront and we found no global site.

Payment. Product pages list Korean card issuers such as BC, Lotte, Hyundai, KB Kookmin, Samsung, and Shinhan, with installment offers aimed at local cardholders. We could not confirm from Artbox itself whether an overseas card is rejected, but nothing on the pages suggests it is supported.

Account. POOM uses a single membership for online and in-store purchases, with points that work in both. The signup page states that you can join only after completing 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification) by mobile phone, and that members must be 14 or older. That check runs through Korean mobile carriers, so it needs a Korean number in your name.

Address. POOM's FAQ answers the question directly: overseas delivery is not currently offered. Orders go out by domestic parcel only, and they cannot be collected at an Artbox store either.

If you are visiting Korea, the simplest way to buy Artbox is in person. For everyone else, there is no official overseas channel to point you to.

What it costs

For items Artbox ships itself, delivery within Korea is ₩3,000, waived when the order reaches ₩30,000 (as of October 2026).

With Artbox prices, that takes some filling. A black matte ballpoint is ₩1,200. A mini four-color pen is ₩1,800. You would need around twenty small items to pass ₩30,000, or a couple of diaries and plush. Either pay the ₩3,000 or build the cart up to the line; both are reasonable.

Products from other brands hosted on POOM can ship separately under their own terms. If your cart mixes Artbox items with third-party brands, expect more than one domestic parcel and possibly more than one fee.

POOM shows member perks such as a 5% online discount and a free-shipping coupon for new members, and some pages show a lower "POOM Plus" price. Those belong to the account that buys. Do not assume they apply to an order placed on your behalf; the quote will show the price actually paid.

Pens and paper are light, so international shipping for a stationery order is modest compared with the same value in homeware. Plush adds volume. HaulKorea's fees and rates are on the pricing page.

Things that go wrong (and how to avoid them)

The store version is not online. Not everything on an Artbox shelf is listed on POOM, and the reverse is also true. If you saw an item in a travel video, search POOM by the product code or name before assuming we can get it.

Character or color sold out. One listing can hold several characters. If your first choice is gone, a backup choice keeps the order moving.

Seasonal stock. Dated diaries and holiday items are sold for a short window. Next-year diaries are already listed in October. Do not wait until January.

Mixed sellers. POOM hosts other brands that ship from their own warehouses on their own schedules. Tell us whether to wait and ship one box or send what has arrived.

Restricted items. Artbox's range includes perfume, diffusers, nail products, and battery-powered gadgets such as stopwatches, mood lights, and handheld fans. Air carriers restrict several of these. Check our prohibited items list or ask first.

Opened packaging. POOM does not accept returns once packaging has been opened or damaged. We inspect without breaking seals. If you want something opened and tested, say so, and understand it can no longer go back to the store.

Fragile gifts. Mugs, glass, and tin cases dent or crack. Inspection photos show their condition before export.

Returns, sizing, and customs

POOM's product pages give 7 days from receipt for exchanges and returns. The buyer pays return shipping for a change of mind, and items with opened or damaged packaging are excluded. Customer service is reachable by phone in Korea during business hours.

That window runs from delivery to our warehouse, and it is short. In practice a return is only possible if the problem is caught at inspection. If Artbox sent the wrong item or a defective one, we handle it with the store before anything leaves Korea. Our refund policy sets out the cases.

Sizing rarely matters for stationery. It does for pajamas, socks, and slippers, which use Korean sizing and millimeter foot lengths. For diaries, check the page dimensions on the listing, since Korean formats do not always match A5 or A6 exactly.

Customs depends on your country. For the US, the $800 duty-free exemption for small parcels was suspended on August 29, 2025. HaulKorea orders to the US have duties included in the price, so you pay nothing on arrival. For other countries, duties and taxes are not included and are paid by the recipient.
