Korean Snacks Only in Korea: Limited Flavors and Shipping Rules 2026
Most famous Korean snacks, such as Choco Pie, Pepero and Shrimp Crackers, are exported, so you can often find the regular versions abroad. What mostly stays in Korea are seasonal and limited-run flavors, which Korean snack makers release in fixed quantities for a few months. Getting those abroad means ordering from a Korean store, and food import rules decide what can be shipped.
This guide covers recent Korean limited editions, what everyday snacks cost in won, why snacks are expensive to ship, and the food rules in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Which Korean snacks are mostly sold in Korea?
There are two groups worth separating.
Regular snacks. Choco Pie, Pepero, Honey Butter Chip, Shrimp Crackers (새우깡, saeukkang) and many others are sold widely in Korea and often exported too. If a regular version is all you want, look in Asian grocery stores and online retailers in your country first. Export versions may have different packaging or ingredients to meet local rules, but they avoid import questions.
Seasonal and limited flavors. Korean snack makers constantly release flavors for a season, a holiday or a collaboration, often in a fixed quantity. These are the snacks that rarely leave Korea. By the time someone abroad sees them on social media, they may already be gone.
Recent Korean limited editions
These examples come from Korean press reports. Limited editions sell out or end on schedule, so treat this as a guide to how the market works, not a shopping list.
| Maker | Edition | When | Limit reported |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haitai | "Fall in café" edition: Matdongsan Chestnut Latte, Sand Ace Cream Latte, Jayu Sigan Royal Milk Tea, Oh!Yes Bakehouse Earl Grey & Chocolat | Launched September 7, 2026 | 3.2 million units in total |
| Haitai | Oh!Yes Ube Latte (purple ube chocolate cake) | Reported July 13, 2026 | 300,000 cases over 3 months |
| Orion | "Dessert café" limited edition, 5 items: Custard Royal Milk Tea, Ottte Apple Pie, New Nurungji Caramel Krungji, Choco Chip Cookie Jeju Matcha Latte, Chocosongi Matcha Cake | Announced October 14, 2025 | Duration not stated |
What stands out is the theme. In autumn 2025 and 2026, both Orion and Haitai built limited lines around café drinks: milk tea, latte, matcha and Earl Grey. MTN reported that Haitai's 2026 autumn edition was its first to use café menus as the concept, instead of seasonal fruit or grains.
What about Pepero Day editions?
November 11 is Pepero Day in Korea, and limited Pepero packs show up around it. When we searched Emart's online mall in October 2026, sellers were already listing items marked as season-limited Pepero. Our Pepero Day 2026 guide covers the timing and how to order in time from abroad.
Winter and holiday editions
Korean makers also release winter and Christmas flavors. On October 15, 2026, an Emart mall listing showed an Orion Happy Berry Chocosongi labeled as a winter limited edition. If you see one online, send us the Korean name or a photo, and we can check if it is still on sale.
How much do Korean snacks cost in Korea?
Here are prices from Emart's online mall (emart.ssg.com) on October 15, 2026. All are as of October 2026. Emart's mall includes listings from outside sellers, so prices vary between listings of the same product.
| Snack | Pack | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Haitai Honey Butter Chip | 60 g | ₩1,350 to ₩1,410 |
| Haitai Honey Butter Chip | 120 g | ₩2,980 |
| Lotte Pepero Original | 54 g | ₩1,580 |
| Lotte Pepero Original | 184 g | ₩5,360 |
| Orion Choco Pie | 12 pack (468 g) | ₩4,320 |
| Orion Choco Pie | 24 pack (936 g) | ₩8,640 |
| Nongshim Shrimp Crackers (Saeukkang) | 90 g | ₩1,260 |
| Nongshim Shrimp Crackers mini packs | 30 g × 8 | ₩7,220 |
| Orion Kkobuk Chip Corn Soup | 80 g × 6 | ₩11,058 |
| Haitai Matdongsan Chestnut Latte | 290 g | ₩4,380 |
| Haitai Jayu Sigan Royal Milk Tea | 30 g single bar | ₩1,240 |
A ₩1,500 bag of chips is cheap in Korea. The problem, as the next section shows, is getting it overseas.
Why are Korean snacks so expensive to ship?
International shipping is charged by actual weight or by size (volumetric weight), whichever is greater. Snacks are almost always charged by size.
| Snack type | Weight | Box space | Shipping value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chip bags (60 to 120 g) | Very light | Huge, mostly air | Poor |
| Choco Pie and cake boxes | Medium | Medium | Fair |
| Pepero sticks | Light | Small boxes | Fair |
| Chocolate bars and candy | Dense | Small | Good |
| Gift tins and sets | Heavy packaging | Medium to large | Poor to fair |
Chip bags are filled with air to protect the chips. Squeezing them flat breaks the contents. So a box of ten chip bags can be charged as if it weighed several kilograms, even though the snacks inside weigh under one.
What works better:
- Choose dense snacks. Chocolate bars, candy, Pepero and small cakes pack tightly.
- Pick mini packs when available. Multi-packs of small bags fit a box better than one family-size bag.
- Add snacks to a bigger order. One or two limited flavors tucked into a box of clothes or cosmetics cost little extra. A box of snacks alone rarely makes sense. See how combining orders works.
- Watch the dates. Check the best-before date in the inspection photos before anything ships.
Can you buy Korean snacks online from outside Korea?
Korean supermarkets and convenience stores sell to addresses in Korea. Most Korean grocery sites deliver domestically, and checking out usually needs a Korean phone number for 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification).
So your options look like this:
| Buy direct | You buy, we ship (package forwarding) | We buy for you (HaulKorea) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Korean account and phone | Needed | Needed | Not needed |
| Korean payment method | Usually needed | Usually needed | Not needed, pay by PayPal |
| Delivery address | Korea only | Forwarder's Korean warehouse | Our Korean warehouse |
| International shipping | Not offered | Paid separately after weighing | Included in one total before you pay |
| Food rule check | Your job | Varies | We check before you pay |
| Combine with other stores | No | Often | Yes |
Big Korean marketplaces such as Coupang and Gmarket also sell snacks. Our store guides explain how each works for buyers abroad.
Can snacks be shipped from Korea? The carrier rules
Korea Post's EMS guidance treats food as conditional for air transport. It says finished products with printed labels and brand marks can be sent, but food home-processed or put into arbitrary containers bought at traditional markets cannot.
It also lists, under items that cannot be sent, goods the destination country bans from import or distribution, giving food (especially kimchi) as an example.
So factory-sealed, labeled snacks pass the carrier's first test. Whether they are welcome at the other end depends on your country.
Food import rules by country
Rules change, especially after animal disease outbreaks. Use this as a starting point and check the official page for your country.
United States
- FDA prior notice. The FDA says food sent as a gift, other than homemade food, is subject to its prior notice requirement. It applies enforcement discretion to some non-commercial shipments, but food bought from a business is still food in the FDA's eyes.
- USDA APHIS. APHIS says the recipient of a package is the official importer of record and is legally responsible for it, and that the package may be seized and destroyed at the port of entry. It also says some processed animal products, such as meat, preserved eggs, extracts and bouillon, can be ineligible for import by individuals even if they are sold in US stores.
- Duties. CBP's fact sheet says goods from all countries valued at or below $800 lost duty-free de minimis treatment on August 29, 2025. The recipient pays any duty and carrier clearance fee locally; CBP says the importer is ultimately responsible for paying any duty owed. HaulKorea's total does not include them. See our US import duty guide.
Most sweet snacks do not contain meat, but some savory snacks and seasonings do. We check ingredient lists before quoting.
Canada
The CFIA's personal-use page sets a 20 kg limit for most food categories from countries other than the US. It says meat products are permitted only if they accompany you into Canada and cannot come by mail or courier, and that eggs from countries other than the US are not permitted. It also says these requirements apply whether you are a traveler or buying food online.
United Kingdom
GOV.UK's personal-import guidance lists packaged soups, stocks and flavorings as allowed from any country, and allows noodles and pasta unless mixed or filled with meat. It also says sandwiches filled with meat or dairy are not allowed. Separate rules apply to meat, dairy and animal products.
Australia
Australia's agriculture department says biscuits, cakes and pastries can come in for personal consumption if fully cooked, shelf stable and free of meat, with fillings or toppings cooked with the cake. Commercially packaged chocolate is allowed, but other confectionery must meet the conditions for each ingredient and must not contain meat. Dairy products have their own conditions, including a requirement that they come from a country approved as free from foot-and-mouth disease. The department says the same import conditions apply to items sent by post.
Everywhere else
Many countries limit food parcels, and some ban certain ingredients. Before you order, ask us. We will check the product's ingredients against the destination's rules, and if it is not a good idea, we will say so before you pay. Our list of what you cannot ship from Korea explains other categories.
How do you read a Korean snack label?
Import rules depend on what is inside, so the label matters. Korean food packaging and product pages use a handful of standard terms. Knowing them helps you spot a problem ingredient before you order.
| Korean term | Romanization | Meaning | Why it matters abroad |
|---|---|---|---|
| 원재료명 | wonjaeryo-myeong | Ingredients | Look for meat, egg or dairy ingredients |
| 내용량 | naeyongnyang | Net contents | Compare value per gram between packs |
| 소비기한 | sobi-gihan | Use-by date | Shipping takes time, so leave a margin |
| 제조원 | jejowon | Manufacturer | Shows the factory and country of manufacture |
| 한정판 | hanjeongpan | Limited edition | Expect it to sell out or end |
A few ingredient words to watch for: 쇠고기 (soegogi, beef), 돼지고기 (dwaejigogi, pork), 닭고기 (dakgogi, chicken), 계란 or 난류 (gyeran or nallyu, egg) and 우유 (uyu, milk). Many sweet snacks include milk or egg in small amounts, and savory snacks may include meat extracts in their seasoning.
You do not need to read every label yourself. Send us the product link, and we check the ingredient list against your country's rules before we quote.
How to order Korean snacks through HaulKorea
- Check local stores first. For regular snacks, a local Asian grocer is cheaper and simpler.
- Find the Korean product. Send a link from a Korean store, or the exact Korean name from the package. For limited editions, a photo helps.
- Ask us before you order. Tell us your country. We check the ingredients and destination rules.
- Get one total. If we can ship it, you see the product price, Korean delivery and international shipping in one figure. You pay once by PayPal. If the actual weight is lower, we refund the shipping difference.
- We buy and inspect. Inspection photos from our Korean warehouse show the packaging and best-before date.
- Combine and ship. Snacks travel best tucked into a larger box with other items.
- Receive and pay local charges. In every country, including the US, the recipient pays any import duty, VAT or sales tax and carrier clearance fee locally.
Tips for snack hunters
- Learn a few Korean words. 한정판 (hanjeongpan) means limited edition. 시즌 한정 (sijeun hanjeong) means season-limited. 신상 (sinsang) means new product.
- Move fast on limited runs. Haitai's 2026 autumn edition was capped at 3.2 million units across four products. Popular flavors can sell out before the run ends.
- Mind melting. Chocolate-coated snacks can soften in warm weather. Cooler months are kinder for chocolate shipments.
- Gift sets look good but ship poorly. Tins and decorative boxes add weight and size. Buy the snacks, not the packaging, if shipping cost matters.
- For noodles, read our other guide. Ramyeon has extra meat-ingredient issues. See our Buldak and ramyeon guide.
FAQ
What Korean snacks can you only get in Korea?
Mostly seasonal and limited flavors. Recent examples include Haitai's "Fall in café" edition launched September 7, 2026, and Orion's dessert café limited edition announced in October 2025. Regular snacks like Choco Pie and Pepero are widely exported.
How much are Korean snacks in Korea?
As of October 2026, Emart's online mall listed Honey Butter Chip 60 g at about ₩1,350 to ₩1,410, Pepero Original 54 g at ₩1,580, and a 12-pack of Orion Choco Pie at ₩4,320.
How long do Korean limited-edition snacks stay on sale?
It varies. Haitai's Oh!Yes Ube Latte was reported as a 3-month run of 300,000 cases, and its autumn 2026 edition was capped at 3.2 million units. Once the run ends or sells out, the flavor is usually gone.
Can I ship Korean snacks to the US?
Often, if they contain no restricted ingredients, but food is never automatic. The FDA's prior notice rules and USDA's animal product rules apply, and the recipient is legally responsible for the parcel. Ask us before you order.
Why is shipping chips from Korea so expensive?
Chip bags are mostly air, and international shipping charges by box size when it exceeds actual weight. A box of chip bags is billed as if it were much heavier than it is. Dense snacks like chocolate and Pepero ship more efficiently.
Can I send Korean snacks to Australia?
Australia allows commercially packaged chocolate and fully cooked, shelf-stable biscuits and cakes without meat for personal use, and the same conditions apply to mail. Other confectionery must meet the conditions for each ingredient. Ask us before you order.
Does Korea Post allow food in international parcels?
Korea Post's EMS guidance says labeled, branded finished food products can go by air, while home-processed food or food in improvised containers cannot. The destination country's import rules still apply.
Can snacks be combined with other Korean purchases?
Yes. HaulKorea can hold snacks at our Korean warehouse and pack them with clothes, cosmetics or stationery from other Korean stores. That is usually the cheapest way to send a few limited flavors.
