What is 29CM and why shoppers want it

29CM launched in 2011 as an online select shop. The name is said to describe the distance between two people who are close enough to feel a small thrill. That idea runs through the site: it reads like a magazine, with long product stories and editorials, not a wall of discount banners.

Musinsa bought 29CM in May 2021 for about ₩300 billion, together with another fashion app. The two sites stayed separate. Musinsa leans toward streetwear and a younger male crowd. 29CM skews toward shoppers in their twenties and thirties, about two thirds of them women, and puts as much weight on living as on clothes.

It is not a small side business. A July 2026 news report put 29CM at roughly 26% of the Musinsa group's total transactions, up from 14% in 2022.

Two things bring overseas shoppers here. One is Korean contemporary womenswear and bag labels that are stocked nowhere outside Korea. The other is 이구홈 (igu-hom, 29CM Home), the home category: ceramics, glassware, fabric goods, stationery and small furniture from Korean studios. 29CM runs a regular Home Week event with more than 500 home brands taking part.

Can you buy from 29CM directly from overseas?

Short answer: plan on no.

No global site. There is no English storefront and no overseas shipping option. If you have used Musinsa Global, do not expect a 29CM equivalent.

Sign-up. 29CM's login page offers new members one route: the Musinsa integrated account, started with Kakao or Apple. Email, Naver and Facebook logins are marked as for existing 29CM members only. Musinsa's FAQ for that shared account says a purchase requires 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification), done once with your name, mobile number and date of birth. 29CM's own FAQ sits behind a login, so we could not read its wording, but the account system is the same.

Payment. We could not confirm whether any foreign-issued card goes through. The page that would say so requires a login.

Address. The delivery form takes Korean addresses only.

Forwarding gives you a Korean warehouse address, but you still have to complete checkout on 29CM yourself. For most readers that is the step that fails.

• Items shipped by the brand follow the seller's policy shown on the page, and a separate fee can apply per brand. One brand we checked shipped free at ₩70,000 or more and promised dispatch within 3 days.
• Items shipped by 29CM itself leave the same day when payment is confirmed by 2 p.m. Shipping is free at ₩50,000 or more and ₩3,000 below that.

Listings carry a label, either 무료배송 (muryo baesong, free shipping) or 조건부 무료배송 (jogeonbu muryo baesong, conditional free shipping). Because fees are per brand, two items from two brands can mean two fees.

Since October 2025, 29CM has also run 무배당발 (mubaedangbal), the "free shipping, same-day dispatch" program first introduced on Musinsa. Products carrying that label ship free and leave the warehouse quickly, seven days a week. For an overseas order that mostly helps by shortening the wait in Korea.

• Contemporary bags. Shoulder bags from Korean labels ran from ₩68,040 to ₩216,030 on sale, and a search for shoulder bags returned more than 22,000 items. This is the category 29CM is best known for among women in Korea.
• Womenswear from small designer labels. Best-selling tops, knits and trousers were ₩29,630–52,790 on sale, with tailored pieces well above that. Many items are tagged as 29CM exclusives.
• Ceramics and tableware. Mugs and plates from Korean studios, about ₩15,000–60,000 a piece. Light enough to ship if packed well.
• Fabric goods and bedding. Pajamas, blankets and pillow covers, roughly ₩30,000–150,000. Bulky, so volume affects shipping cost.
• Stationery and desk items. Diaries, pens, pouches at ₩5,000–40,000. Good add-ons because they weigh little.
• Gift sets. 29CM's 선물하기 (seonmul-hagi, gifting) service is a large part of its business, and many brands sell boxed sets made for it.

Things that go wrong, and how to avoid them

One option sells out. Small labels produce in small batches. Add a backup color or tell us to cancel that line if it is gone.

Made-to-order and pre-order items. Many 29CM brands take orders first and produce afterward. The product page shows a notice such as 예약배송 (yeyak baesong, pre-order shipping) or 주문제작 (jumun jejak, made to order) with an expected dispatch date. Waits of two to four weeks are normal for these, and made-to-order goods usually cannot be cancelled once production starts.

Sizing. Womenswear is often sold in one size, labeled FREE or F, or in just two sizes. The label tells you little. Use the 실측 사이즈 (siljeuk saijeu, measured size) table in centimeters and compare with a garment you own. Shoes are in millimeters.

Fragile goods. Ceramics, glass and mirrors survive a domestic courier trip more easily than an international one. Ask for extra padding in your quote request, and expect the box to be larger.

Things that cannot fly easily. Candles are fine, but room sprays, perfume, diffusers with alcohol-based liquid, and anything with a built-in battery face air-freight limits. 29CM's home category is full of these. Furniture and large lighting. Technically orderable, rarely sensible. Shipping can exceed the item price.

Returns, sizing and customs

29CM's product pages state the rule: exchange, refund or return is possible within 7 days counted from the day after you receive the item. For a change of mind, round-trip shipping is deducted from the refund, and the product and packaging must be in resalable condition. Defective items are refunded in full, shipping included. Made-to-order goods such as jewelry, cameras and sealed products cannot be returned for a change of mind, and a brand's own stated policy takes priority.
